On behalf of the Editorial Board of EuJAP, I extend the deepest condolences on the untimely passing of Professor Nenad Miščević (1950-2024). For the last several decades, Professor Miščević served as a professor of philosophy at the University of Maribor, Slovenia. He stood as a pioneer in the realm of analytic philosophy in Southeast Europe and beyond. In particular, his dedicated mentorship, fruitful philosophical contributions, and editorial leadership in regional scholarly journals and scholarly book editing have profoundly influenced generations of analytic philosophers not only within Croatia but also across the broader region. Moreover, his instrumental efforts in the late 1990s significantly contributed to the establishment of the Department of Philosophy at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Rijeka, which serves as the publisher of EuJAP.
In 2015, EUJAP proudly featured a special issue dedicated to exploring the multifaceted dimensions of Professor Miščević’s philosophical contributions. This issue served as a testament to his profound impact, featuring insightful discussions on various aspects of his work alongside his own reflections and responses to commentaries.
We are confident that Professor Miščević’s intellectual legacy will continue to inspire and guide future generations of philosophers in Croatia and beyond.
I would like to add that Professor Miščević has profoundly influenced both my career path and philosophical views, and he will be deeply missed.
